At the United Way of Marshall County and Marshall County Community Foundation (MCCF), we take the threat of COVID-19 (coronavirus) seriously. From the possibility of widespread infection to the economic effects to our local small businesses, we realize the layers of negative impact this pandemic can have on all aspects of Marshall County life. Our network of social service support organizations is poised to respond to this global pandemic that’s already having a deep local impact in our communities.
YOUR DONATIONS NEEDED TO HELP MEET LOCAL NEEDS
Local nonprofits are experiencing interruptions to their operations while at the same time facing a greater demand for the services they provide to families and individuals in need. Our Disaster Relief Fund was created in response to widespread flooding in 2018. To support our community and residents during this pandemic, the Marshall County COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund at the United Way of Marshall County will be deployed in the coming days, weeks, and months to respond to needs of the most vulnerable during this crisis.
Contributions can be via the United Way website at http://www.marshallcountyuw.org/covid19 or by check, mailed to the Marshall County Philanthropy Center, 2680 Miller Drive, Suite 120, Plymouth IN. Mark “COVID-19 Response Fund” when donating online or on your check’s memo line. United Way and the MCCF are fully prepared to continue to serve, and support our communities.
Top of mind are those who are at highest risk of infection and those who will be disproportionately impacted by the spread of COVID-19, our community’s ALICE Families. (ALICE is an acronym that stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.) ALICE families are those who are working hard but having a hard time making ends meet. Many of our friends and neighbors in Marshall County may be without paid sick leave, health insurance, or having their paychecks cut by fewer hours at work. They will be hit hard by this crisis.
COMMUNITY TABLE
Now is the time to coordinate our efforts to respond compassionately and quickly during this health crisis. Now is an important moment where our collective relationships, financial resources, knowledge, and networks can be deployed to ease suffering and support our communities.
Special sessions of the Marshall County Community Table will take place every Monday at 10 a.m. EST via Zoom. Meetings are open to anyone addressing social service needs in Marshall County including nonprofits, government leaders, educators, faith-based organizations, and the general public.
