- The United Way of Marshall County is pleased to announce
a new partnership with all six of the golf courses located
in Marshall County: Indiana National Golf Club at Swan Lake,
Mystic Hills Golf Club at Culver, Plymouth Country Club, Plymouth
Rock Golf Course, Sprig O'Mint Golf Club, and Tri-Way Golf
Club.
The golf courses and United Way have collaborated to create
a "Golf Card" which entitles the bearer to one free round
of golf (green fees only) at each of the six courses for a
donation of $50 each. 100% of the proceeds will go to United
Way in support of their Income, Education, and Health goals
in Marshall County. Only 500 cards will be available for sale.
The value of playing all six courses is over $200. Scheduled
tee times are required and some dates and times may be restricted
due to other events at the courses.
Interested golfers may obtain their cards at any of the golf
courses, the United Way office, the Pilot News, WTCA radio
station, or by contacting a United Way board member. Cards
will be available for purchase beginning May 1st.
"United Way board member Jim Wagner approached Pat Bayley,
director of golf at the Indiana National Golf Club at Swan
Lake in 2008 to support a golf related event which would benefit
United Way," said Jennifer Maddox, United Way executive director.
"The 'Golf for United Way Day' last year was modestly successful
and afterwards Pat and I discussed how we could make it better.
Pat suggested involving all the other courses and helped organize
our first meeting. Bob Booth, owner of Plymouth Rock Golf
Course was the first to suggest the golf card in our brainstorming
sessions. "There are lots of folks in our area who enjoy the
game of golf. Everyone should take this opportunity to experience
the uniqueness of all our fine courses," said Bob.
"What a great opportunity for all six Marshall County courses
to offer a great golfing value for area golfers, and in turn,
for the golfers to support United Way when they play," said
Jan Kinney, owner of Tri-Way Golf Club.
J.D. Hull, golf professional at Sprig O'Mint agreed with Jan
and stated, "Marshall County is blessed to have great golf
courses and great golfers who can support this effort."
Pat Bayley added, "Is there a better way to give back to your
community?"
As an added bonus, the name of every person who purchases
a golf card will be placed in a drawing for golf prizes which
will be announced at the campaign kick-off event in August.
United Way board member Duane Culp is enthusiastic about the
collaboration. "United Way is fortunate to have all golf courses
on board for a great fund raising experience," he said.
The United Way of Marshall County advances the common good
by focusing on the building blocks to a good life: income,
education, and health. When we reach out a hand to one, we
influence the condition of all. That's what it means to Live
United.
