Bremen School Carnival Breaks a Record
10/30/07
Youngsters at Bremen Elementary-Middle School are doing their
part for United Way. Two weeks ago the seventh and eighth
graders staged a carnival for the entire school for the third
year. Each year their profits have increased and this year
was no exception. Last Thursday, the students gathered with
Tracy Tredway, principal, and Phil Scott, organizer and social
studies teacher, to present a check.
They bubbled over with excitement as they gathered around
Jennifer Maddox, executive director of United Way of Marshall
County. She was thrilled to accept a check for $2,369.04.
"I want to thank all of you…You made a real difference this
year," she said.
All the students had helped set up and work the carnival which
included 11 game booths, a concession stand and a prize redemption
counter.
Tredway is anxious to reclaim the trophy that is awarded to
the school students raising the most money. Traveling trophies
are also awarded at the United Way Annual Meeting to the school
system and company raising the most money.
"I really want that trophy-really bad," he laughed. He was
serious.
"He's going to do what it takes," Scott offered. No doubt
they're fast at work planning another way to get students
involved in the effort-and bring that trophy back from Triton
to Bremen.
