Annual Ride for United Way |
|
The
seventh annual "Ride for United Way" is scheduled for Saturday,
June 28th. Enjoy a fun day and support your local United Way
at the same time! Motorcycle ride registration begins at 9:00
a.m. at CJ Chrome & Cycle at 6770 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
CJ Chrome & Cycle will provide coffee and donuts. A brief riders
meeting will be held at 9:45 a.m. Riders will leave CJ Chrome
beginning at 10:00 am and travel throughout Marshall County
on a 62-mile route.
Last year 90 motorcycles with 130 riders rode through LaPaz,
Bremen, Bourbon, Argos, Culver and Plymouth to raise awareness
for the United Way of Marshall County.
This year's route will have a new starting point at CJ Chrome
& Cycle at 6770 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. The ride will
go north on Michigan, east on Highway 6 through Bremen, south
on SR 331 with a stop at Journey's End in Bourbon. The ride
will continue south until turning east on Highway 10 through
Argos to Culver. We will ride around Lake Maxinkuckee, stopping
at Papa's, and ending at the American Legion in Plymouth where
riders are treated to food, music, a cash bar and door prizes.
Each participant will receive a United Way T-shirt. Admission
is $25.00 per pilot (driver) and $10.00 per co-pilot (passenger).
Non-riders can join the group for lunch at the American Legion
at 1:00 pm at a cost of $5.00 per person. This is a family friendly
event-children are welcome. Come enjoy a great day!
Again this year, United Way leadership will ride in the event
with Founder and Event Chair Cindy Rash. Those riding include:
Jennifer Maddox, Executive Director; Vickie Talcott, Board President;
Ed Ruiz, 2008 Campaign Chair; Brad Serf, 2007 Campaign Chair;
and Executive Assistant, Lyn Ward.
Cindy originated the annual awareness ride following her tenure
on the United Way board. "I love the ride and the people who
come out to support United Way. I have a passion for United
Way and want to spread the word about all the good United Way
does in Marshall County. Last year it was a thrill for me to
have my daughter, Miss Indiana Nicole Rash, sing the national
anthem for us before the ride!"
Jennifer added, "This is a wonderful way for us to let the public
know about the annual United Way campaign and those who benefit
from the community donations."
